Viriato Augusto, is an multidisciplinary artist that works in a variety of media ranging from video performance and interactive sculptural pieces to immersive installations.
Born in 1979 on the island of Madeira, initially trained as a computer technician, after several years working in that field he ended up pursuing a career in arts and graduated in sculpture at the University of Lisbon, currently he is finishing his master's degree in Contemporary Artistic Creation, at the University of Aveiro.
He lived 5 years in Barcelona where he contributed and exhibited with the DRAP-ART project (art and recycling festival), among others. He returned for a few years to Lisbon where it is worth noting the joint exhibition with the artist Margarida Alves at MUNHNAC entitled Dialectic of Landscape, which was his first work presented to the public on the aesthetic and emotional issues of landscape, that is currently the main subject of his work. His subject of work relate to awareness of self, questioning of the pre conceived reality's and emotional and conceptual connection to Nature. Presently he is living between the island of Madeira and Leipzig in Germany.
